Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid year, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him exiting of the top ten and finally parting ways with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's initial title following the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 various events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my two daughters at once, so to get a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on the playing surface had led commentators to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was concluded.

However the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and perform positively, backed up by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial professional victory, gained dominance to create a third set.

He saved four early break points in a competitive deciding set before the champion broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he earned the title with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
