World Series Final Game Attracts Over 50 Million Audience Members Across the US, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The nail-biting extended contest that saw the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a total over 50 million watchers in the United States, Canada, and Japan territories. MLB reported this is the highest-rated World Series Game 7 since the 1991 edition showdown between the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday epic contest secured 27.33M viewers on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and their digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series game after the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This marks a sixteen percent improvement compared to the previous finale featuring the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked 4th, Game 4 was 7th, Game 5 was eighth, and the third game finished in 13th place.

Global Viewership Figures

In Canada, the climactic game drew 11.6M viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the most-watched English broadcast in Canada since the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest started at 9 p.m. local time, it drew 12 million. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – in which Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – recorded over 13 million spectators, making it the most-watched World Series game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Series Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-game World Series recorded 15.71 million viewers on the Fox network, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This marks the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience increases for two straight years.

Including the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the complete American viewership was over 16 million. The total World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels recorded 8.09M watchers, an 8% rise compared to last year and the network’s best postseason ratings since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball stated that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 nations and regions by 44 broadcasting partners in 16 various languages.
